El Portillo Beach is a long golden-yellow sandy beach in the north of the Dominican Republic on the Samana Peninsula, just minutes from downtown Las Terrenas. The place is especially popular with local families due to the shallow waters, while the beach is still quiet and little-known among tourists. From October to January, El Portillo provides excellent conditions for kitesurfing, during this period, moderate windy weather prevails on the beach.

In summer, tropical rains and typhoons are frequent guests in the Dominican Republic. Therefore, it is better to go there in winter, from November to March, when the air warms up to a comfortable 24-30 degrees, and the weather is dry enough.
