Punta Popi occupies the northeastern part of the Las Terrenas beach area. The beach has concentrated all kinds of water sports in its territory. There are all conditions for this: for kite and surfing – an ocean wave, for diving – reefs. The lucky wind rose and the right waves made this place ideal for kitesurfers and windsurfers. There is also an area for SUP (Paddleboarding). Due to the shape of the coastline at Punta Popy beach, the waves converge at a 90-degree angle.
There are usually quite a few people on the Playa Punta Popy in May and in September.
The beach season on the local Atlantic coast never stops. The water temperature even during the winter months does not drop below 25 ° C. The hottest months are July and August when the daytime air temperature reaches 31–32 ° С. This time is called the hurricane season, but they happen very rarely in the area of Punta Popi beach. There is no pronounced rainy season in the Dominican Republic, therefore there is no prolonged cloudy weather with showers. At the same time, the beauty of a sandy beach is a fickle phenomenon. If there was a storm the day before, the coast may be littered with debris and algae thrown out by waves, but, fortunately, not for long. There are much fewer algae on the Atlantic coast of the Dominican Republic than on the side of the Caribbean Sea.
The most comfortable months for visiting the beaches of the Dominican Republic are spring and autumn. At this time, the temperatures of water and air are most harmoniously balanced.
The air temperature at Playa Punta Popy allows sunbathing all year round.
Some people feel that the water at Playa Punta Popy is too warm from March to January.
From May to October Playa Punta Popy has rainy season. This is something to keep in mind when planning your trip since it is quite possible that you may be unable to sunbathe.

Public transport in the Dominican Republic is poorly developed. There are several intercity bus routes and minibusses. The most popular and original type of local private taxi is concho (moto concho) – old motorcycles on which, after good bargaining with the owner, you can get to your destination.
The best way to travel to the Dominican Republic is by taxi and rental cars. A taxi ride from Samana airport to Punta Popi beach in Las Terrenas will cost you $ 35. A toll road leads from the capital’s Santo Domingo Airport north to the Atlantic Ocean. If you go along it to Punta Popi, you will have to pay several times. The total fees are about $ 30. The distance between the cities is 160 km, the trip will take about 2 hours.
