Kamala Beach Vacation & Travel Guide

Kamala Beach is a beautiful two-kilometer coastal area covered with white sand. The beach is great for families if you want to get away from the bustling Patong. Previously, it was a small Muslim fishing village, and although the proportion of the Muslim population is still quite high here, Kamala is now a fairly lively town.

The beach is covered with fine white sand, and the descent into the sea is gentle. The seabed is sandy so that you can swim here even at high tide. On most of the beach, sun loungers can be rented for about 100 baht per day. There are also many different restaurants, bars, and shops, mainly located along the beach’s southern part.

The best areas are in the northern part of the beach. Compared to the busy southern part of Kamala, there are fewer tourists, and the water is cleaner and clearer. This is probably because local fishers dock their boats in the southern part of Kamala Beach.

Overall, Kamala Beach is a great place to visit if you want to spend a day at the beach and avoid all the inconveniences of the more popular and lively places in Phuket. It is more family-friendly than nearby Patong Beach. Also, the ocean currents are not too strong here, which will allow vacationers to enjoy swimming. Kamala is one of the most famous beaches in Phuket for this very reason. Be sure to visit it whenever you want to take a break from the bustling Patong.

The best thing about Kamala Beach is its relatively low number of tourists, as compared to Patong. There are only a few resorts here, so there are not too many tourists. The downside is the many vendors who try to sell you things, and that you might have to drive a long way to get to restaurants and bars. There is also no direct transportation to and from Patong (there is a bus, but it only runs every 2 hours).

The nightlife is quite good here, however. The bars are located mainly on the southern part of the beach, and there are also many discos, such as Tiger, Shark, and Gossip. The music is quite loud so that you can party until the wee hours of the morning.

Kamala Beach is also a great choice for families, as there are many accommodation options here. The prices are quite low, so you can be sure that you’ll find something for everyone’s budget. If you want to see some of the best views of the sunset over the Andaman Sea, make sure you come to the beach at sunset.

There are some nice restaurants here. One of the most popular ones is the Cactus Bar & Restaurant, on the beach’s southern part. You can enjoy a great view here, and the food is also delicious.

Kamala is one of Phuket’s main beaches and is fairly easy to find as there are a lot of signs throughout. It is located north of Patong Beach and south of Surin Beach. The road runs parallel to the beach, so if you drive along with it you will easily find Kamala Beach.
