A little east of Albufeira you will find Praia da Coelha beach. The cliffs protect it from strong gusts of wind, and thanks to the comfortable entrance to the sea and the soft sand it is the best place for families with children. This is also a popular place among locals.
We would like to recommend Praia da Coelha for one more reason. You just have to take a short walk down a path among olive trees, bamboo groves, and junipers to reach the beach from the parking in the village of Sesmarias. You can walk directly to the sand by a small staircase.
Likewise, you can find big shells, which are characteristic of this beach.
It is recommended to keep a safe distance from the edge of the rocks because of the possibility of falling rocks.
You can get there by car. The nearest parking is in the village of Sesmarias.
There are usually quite a few people on the Praia da Coelha from November to April.
Many beaches around Albufeira are Blue Flag rated, Praia da Coelha is no exception.During the summer, the water warms up to an average of 20 – 23 ºC.
From June to September the air temperature at Praia da Coelha is perfect for sunbathing. Water temperatures usually do not drop below 10 degrees during the whole year but remain quite cold.
