Kata Beach is very popular with tourists as it is one of the best beaches in Phuket. Despite the abundance of tourists, Kata Beach is still magnificent. It is planted with casuarina trees, in the shade of which you can hide from the sun. The sand is fine and white, and the descent into the sea is gentle. The seabed is also sandy, with sparse stones interspersed.
The Andaman Sea is very clean, and the water is warm. The shore is not steep, so it is easy to get into the water. The beach is very clean, and there are no piles of rubbish. There are two main parts to the beach — the small bay with its bars and restaurants and the open beach. The small bay is more suitable for families with children, as there are more shallow areas, lifeguards, and shallow water. The open part of the beach is more suitable for sports, as it is deeper and there are no rocks. The southern part of the beach has a rocky coast that is more suitable for snorkeling. The northern part of the beach is more suitable for sunbathing.
The beach is served by a few hotels, including Kata Palm Beach, Kata Beach Hotel, and Kata Beach Residence. A variety of restaurants are located at the beach, including steak houses and seafood restaurants.
Kata Beach is best for swimming in the months of November-April. The water is warm enough for swimming all year round.

How to get:
From Phuket Airport to Kata Beach can be reached by ground transportation.
There are several ways to get to Kata Beach. The easiest way is to take the bus. The last stop is Kata Noi Beach. You can get off here and walk to Kata Beach. The bus runs every 20-30 minutes. Some minibusses run from the city center to Kata Beach. The last minibus leaves at about 19:00.
At the airport, you can take a taxi to your hotel at almost any time of the day. A taxi will cost 800 – 1000 baht per car and will take you without delay on the way to the disembarkation of other tourists directly to the hotel. This is the most expensive, but also the most comfortable and fastest way to get to Kata. If you are traveling with children, consider the taxi option.
A small bus with a trip price of 180 – 200 baht per person will also take you to the hotel, but on the way he can stop at travel agencies, where they will ask you exactly where to go, offer excursions, in addition, the bus will spend time to disembark other tourists and to find their hotels. The method is pretty good, relatively fast.
From Phuket airport to Phuket city in the afternoon there is a regular bus, the fare is 95 baht. Then, from the Phuket bus station, you will get to Kata Beach by another bus that follows to Karon and Kata beaches for 25-40 baht. This is perhaps the longest way to get to Kata Beach, but it is also the cheapest and you can see more along the way than with other ways, including a little walk in Phuket Town, for example, walking to the Central Festival shopping center. You need to have at least a little idea of where you get off, buses make stops “on-demand”.
The best months to travel to Kata are the months from December to March, during this period there is little rainfall, almost no waves. You will be able to fully spend your vacation on Kata Beach and enjoy the gorgeous white sand and clear sea.
During the low season from May to October, the waves on Kata Beach itself may not be as high as on neighboring beaches, due to the fact that the beach is quite shallow. Kata Noi Beach during this period attracts many surfers who want to relax in a wonderful bay on high waves.
