Sicily is not Sardinia in terms of beaches. However, to say that Sicily is not a perfect destination for a sun and beach holiday is quite wrong. There you can enjoy such paradisiacal beaches as the three I have selected in this article, which is obviously essential when it comes to preparing a route to enjoy the island.
Cala-Mosche Beach
Vendicari is a natural reserve located in the southeast of Sicily. That already gives you some clues about its characteristics, such as the fact that there is not a single beach bar around it. It is in a quiet place, perfect to disconnect from everything. It has fine sand and crystal-clear waters, so it is ideal for snorkeling. Also, depending on when you visit it you will be able to see flamingos, lizards, and different species of birds.
Mondello Beach
Mondello's concept has nothing to do with that of Cala Mosche. In this case, we are talking about a beach located very close to Palermo, which is the capital of Sicily. Despite this, we can enjoy its turquoise waters, and we can even access the private part by paying 10 euros for a hammock and a parasol. Its fine white sand will seduce you, as will the dishes of Sicilian cuisine served in the restaurants that are distributed in the area.
Lido Fiori Beach
You have to travel to the southwest of Sicily to swim in this beach that can boast of Blue Flag. Fine sand, crystalline water, spectacular surroundings... What more could you ask for? Well, an alternative plan when one decides to pick up the gear. The best is probably to visit Selinunte, an ancient Greek city with an archaeological park where you can taste high-quality wine.
