Playa de Bolonia

Playa de Bolonia is on Spain’s Mediterranean coast, near the border with Andalusia. The water is warm and shallow with a beautiful sandbar. There are several good restaurants in the area, but it is advisable to bring your own food and water.

Bolonia beach (Playa de Bolonia), located 20 km from Tarifa in the direction of Cadiz, is considered one of the most picturesque in all of Andalusia. A trip to this beach allows you to combine a beach holiday with a cultural one. Here, right on the shore, is the archaeological complex Baelo Claudia (ruins of the ancient Roman city of Baelo Claudia, II century BC). A dune 30 meters high, recognized (not without reason!) As a natural monument by the local authorities, gives an unusual beauty and flavor to the local landscape. Mount San Bartolo rises above the dune. Here, for rock-climbers, about 200 of the best routes in Spain are offered.

The beautiful white sand of the wide and clean Bologna beach will satisfy the requirements of even the most discerning guests. There are several restaurants on the beach where you will be served delicious fish and seafood. However, the locals recommend: before you go here, ask about the weather forecast, and first of all – the wind speed.

In general, due to its ideal geographic and climatic conditions, Tarifa attracts windsurfers and kitesurfers from all over the world. Bolonia, on the Costa de la Luz, is a “secret” windsurfer destination. When the strong and warm wind of the Levante blows, many fans of surfing and its varieties gather here. Nevertheless, due to the long length of the Bolonia beach, there is enough space for everyone: those who swim, those who are engaged in surfing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing, and those who came just to watch this fascinating action.

Beautiful beach. Very fine sand. We played beach volleyball here. The water is great and the surrounding nature is wonderful.
Take a wrap or something against the wind when it whips up the sand!

If you want a real ocean beach experience then go to Bolonia. Sun, sand, clear waves, and surrounding mountains - all that you normally think of when dreaming about the sea. Rather long distance to drive there is absolutely worth it; just plan the whole day trip. Overwhelming experience guaranteed.
